We haven't run hands-on tests yet, so this page compares prices and plans only.
This is not investment advice. These tools do not guarantee returns. A backtest is not a forecast. Automated orders can lose money.
Compare trading journals — TradeZella, Edgewonk, Tradervue, TradesViz — free plans, broker imports and analytics. Plus a free template.

What a trading journal is
A journal is a record of trades that already happened: the instrument, the size, the reason you wrote down, and the result after you closed. It does not open the next position. Traders keep one so a bad week can be read later without relying on memory. This page compares four products. It does not grade whose analytics are wiser, and it does not offer a downloadable spreadsheet. A template file is not published here.
Broker import is a column people expect. The vendor's pricing page does not record it, so the cards do not claim that any product pulls a broker file. Ask the vendor if import is the feature you need.
Trading Journal Apps at a Glance
Four names, with prices only where the price was confirmed. TradesViz stays visible and unpriced.
Annual billing only on the vendor's pricing page: $315 a year, stated as $26 a month and up. There is no checked monthly plan and no checked free tier. The alternatives section below names the other three journals, not a different category of tool.
Also annual: $197 a year, about $16.4 a month in the checked note. No free tier is printed. It is the lower annual bill next to TradeZella's $315, which is a price fact, not a verdict that the diary is better.
Silver is checked at $29.95 a month. A free plan and a trial are checked. This is the only one of the four with both a printed monthly price and a printed free plan. The free plan's limits are not itemized beyond that sentence.
Tradervue is the checked free plan in this set. The other three do not get a free-tier sentence. There is no spreadsheet template on this page to download. A notebook still counts as a journal if you write the same fields every time: instrument, size, reason, and result. The app is optional.
TradeZella alternatives
If the $315 annual bill is the objection, the neighbors are Edgewonk at $197 a year and Tradervue at $29.95 a month with a free plan. TradesViz is the unpriced fourth. None of them is certified as a better diary.
How to Choose a Trading Journal
Pick Tradervue if you want a checked free plan before you pay. Pick Edgewonk if you want the lower checked annual total. Pick TradeZella only if an annual bill of $315 matches how you already plan to pay. Leave TradesViz until a later check prints a figure. Then keep using the journal after the purchase. An empty login does not review your trades.
Tradervue has the checked free plan and Silver at $29.95 a month. Edgewonk is $197 a year. TradeZella is $315 a year and annual-only on the vendor's pricing page. TradesViz has no printed price.
Is there a free trading journal?
Tradervue's free plan is checked, along with a trial. TradeZella, Edgewonk, and TradesViz do not have a printed free tier. This page does not host a spreadsheet template.
What is the best trading journal app?
The four apps are TradeZella, Edgewonk, Tradervue, and TradesViz. "Best" is the search topic. The concrete split is Tradervue's free plan versus the two annual prices of $315 and $197.
How much does TradeZella cost?
The checked price is $315 a year, described as $26 a month and up, and the vendor's pricing page says billing is annual only. A free tier is not printed.
We only show a price we could confirm on the vendor's site on the date shown.
